Title:

Relief Pharmacist

 

Working hours:

40 hours (Monday – Sunday); in line with business needs

 

Reports to:

Designated Area Pharmacy Manager


Location:

The successful candidates will be required to provide relief cover to MediCare Pharmacies in the Greater Belfast Area or North West Area.

 

About You:

The successful candidate will be a registered Pharmacist with an excellent knowledge of the Pharmacy environment and have one year’s post qualification experience. Customer care will be at the forefront of your concern with every patient being treated as an individual. Using your expert knowledge, you will assist our customers by recommending and promoting our range of health services.


Primary Purpose:

To ensure the effective and efficient operation of MediCare Pharmacy to maximise dispensing and services, private services and OTC sales and profitability and to ensure all staff working within the Pharmacy comply with all statutory and/or professional obligations.


Main duties:

  • To undertake the role of Responsible Pharmacist as and when required. Always comply with professional regulatory requirements of the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland.
  • Ensure that the SOPs are being adhered to; and any temporary amendments/reviews are undertaken and documented in compliance with RP regulations.
  • To ensure the dispensing process is carried out in accordance with the Code of Ethics of the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland at all times.
  • Promote and deliver Professional Services (NHS and Private) were required to do so.
  • Maintain and develop good working relations with other primary health care professionals especially in local surgeries, Care homes etc.
  • Ensure that the Controlled Drugs Register is maintained in accordance with the statutory requirement and that all Company procedures for controlled drugs handling within the Pharmacy are followed (including CDs and out-of-date pharmacy stocks of CDs)
  • Ensure all Company procedures for dealing with dispensing incidents, actions to be taken and documentation are completed in the timeframes as specified by Head Office.
  • Ensure that all customer complaints are recorded and brought to the attention of the Pharmacy Manager.
  • Identify, share and implement best practice across the pharmacy to ensure that key professional initiatives are delivered to maximise sales and professional service.
  • Ensure the correct management of stock within the dispensary and adhere to Company procedures for stock management and directives from Head Office.
  • Agree business priorities with the Pharmacy Manager with Area Pharmacy Manager as required
  • Support the Pharmacy Manager in ensuring the product knowledge and customer service training of all staff is of the highest standard so that customers receive an excellent, professional and caring services all times.
  • Identify and use learning opportunities to build the pharmacy teams capability.

All pharmacy staff are bound by rules of confidentiality. You must ensure confidentiality of all MediCare policies and statistics. This equally applies after termination of your employment with the MediCare Pharmacy Group for whatever reason.

Education:

Essential Criteria:

Membership of, or eligible to be registered with the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland

Desirable Criteria

Postgraduate qualification in Pharmacy


Experience:

Essential Criteria:

Proficient in Pharmacy computer systems and Microsoft applications.
An up-to-date knowledge of changes within Pharmacy;
Completion of any NICPLD/HSCB courses which are compulsory components for delivery service (e.g. PMR)

Previous active involvement in Pharmacy services initiatives such as Smoking Cessation, Minor Ailments and Medicines Use

Experience of multiple dispensing including MDS.

Desirable Criteria

Previous experience within a busy retail environment.
Previous experience of Medicare's Standard Operating Procedures.

Co-operates fully with the implementation of MediCare’s Health and Safety arrangements and reports any accidents/incidents, defects with work equipment or inadequate safety arrangements to the Pharmacy Manager.

Ensure that agreed safe systems of work are observed by all staff.
